Despite being born and raised in Langley, British Columbia and spending much of her adult life living in Edmonton, Jacalyn den Haan feels most at home when she's driving that one bend on the Trans Canada running west between Exshaw and Canmore, Alberta. It's right before sunset, the clouds only just beginning to flare up behind the Rocky Mountains. She was not born here, but she arrives here - she belongs to this fleeting sun, to this road closing in on itself and then opening again. den Haan currently resides in Montreal, Quebec.
