Barbara Kelly spent most of her career as a Theatre educator. She taught at Dawson College, Montreal, where she directed many plays. She wrote a play (Suspended Pieces) and co-wrote another play (Connect the Dots), both of which were produced at the Montreal Fringe Festival. She holds an M.A. in Theatre Arts (U. of Oregon) and an M.A. in English Studies (U. of Montreal).

 

An emerging poet, Barb won Honourable Mention in both the 2020 and 2021 Dr. William Henry Drummond Poetry Contests. Her work has been published in Chronicling the Days: Dispatches from a Pandemic (Guernica Editions, 2021) and in Hope and Resilience in the Time of Covid (edited by Rebecca Welton, 2021).

 

Barb was selected for the 2022 Mentorship program at Quebec Writers’ Federation where she was mentored by stephanie roberts while writing Leave-taking, her first chapbook. Barb lives in Morin-Heights, Qc.
